3rd and 4th Grade Navi Class create
Diorama of Yehoshua and the Crossing of the Yarden River
We made the diorama with Morah Clara Simon, our Navi (Prophets) teacher. Outside the box in Hebrew it says "May'as Kitah Gimel-Daled" which means From the 3rd and 4th Grade. On the back of the scene (box) you can see the Jewish people waiting. In front the Kohains are holding the Aron (Ark). Four Kohains carried the Aron towards the Yarden so it would split and the Jews could cross over it into Canaan which would become Israel. Miraculously the Aron (Ark) flew the Kohains across - and the waters split for all Jews to walk through. Hard to see him, but in the corner near the Jews, Yehoshuah (Joshua) was giving the Kohains instructions.
Here is the sign we made to hang over the Diorama in the school hallway. It says "Keriyas Hayarden byimei Yehoshua" - The Crossing of the Yarden River in the days of Joshua. Twelve rocks (representing the 12 tribes) were placed as a monument outside the Yarden River, and they put another 12 stones back into the river. On the 12 stones they engraved words of Torah in 70 (!) languages.
